Shipborne Navigation

Shipborne Navigation

High performance GNSS navigators for precise and resilient maritime positioning, from standard GNSS/DGNSS to RTK and compass-grade solutions. Engineered for integration, redundancy, and accuracy in all operational conditions.

Navigate With Confidence

Navigate With Confidence

Modern maritime operations require resilient, high-integrity navigation that performs reliably across all conditions. Whether navigating commercial corridors, polar routes or offshore installations, vessels must rely on systems that deliver consistent accuracy - even in GNSS-challenged environments.

Modular System Architecture For Precision and Integration

Modular System Architecture For Precision and Integration

The R6 NAV portfolio is built on a modular, future-ready architecture that supports everything from standard GNSS/DGNSS, RTK-level precision, precise motion monitoring and Panama Canal compliance. All type-approved and designed for seamless bridge integration.

Resilience Beyond Compliance

Resilience Beyond Compliance

Where minimum IMO requirements fall short in the face of modern GNSS disruptions, the R6 NAV PRO series offers verified alternatives. By multi-band jamming and spoofing detection and mitigation, these systems provide enhanced situational awareness and continuity.

Frequently Asked Questions

SBAS (Satellite-Based Augmentation System) uses geostationary satellites to broadcast regional correction data, improving position accuracy from 1.2 m (uncorrected GNSS) to approximately 0.3 m RMS (0.6 m 2DRMS). SBAS is regional. The main systems are WAAS (Americas), EGNOS (Europe), MSAS (Japan), GAGAN (India) and more coming. SBAS is not available on all continents. A vessel transitioning between different continental regions may need to powercycle the NAV sensor so it can acquire the new regional SBAS system [If running older FW version then 1.6.0].

Availability: All R6 NAV variants (NAV, NAV PRO, NAV PRO RTK).

IALA Beacon stations are land-based coastal reference stations that transmit DGNSS corrections on MF radio frequencies (283.5–325.0 kHz). The R6 NAV DGNSS has a dual-channel Beacon receiver with support for MSK bit rates 50, 100, and 200 bps.
Reliability and availability depend on the country and coastal area. Coverage is limited to coastal zones where Beacon stations are deployed and maintained by the national maritime authority.

Performance: Accuracy 0.3 m RMS (0.6 m 2DRMS).
Availability: R6 NAV DGNSS and R6 NAV PRO variants.

ATLAS is an L-band satellite-based subscription correction service. A global reference network transmits corrections via uplink stations to geostationary Lband satellites, which broadcast encoded correction data to the receiver.
ATLAS requires an active subscription and the NAV sensor must hold a PRO license. Two service levels exist: ATLAS Near Shore (coverage along coastlines) and ATLAS Offshore (open-ocean global coverage).
Reception quality and detection angle depend on how far the vessel is from the equator. At high latitudes, the geostationary satellite elevation angle decreases, which can affect L-band signal reception.

Performance: Accuracy 4 cm RMS / 8 cm 2DRMS.
Availability: R6 NAV PRO.

Galileo HAS (High Accuracy Service) is a free correction service broadcast directly by Galileo satellites via the E6-B signal. No subscription is required.
Galileo HAS currently supports Galileo and GPS constellations. Support for additional constellations (GLONASS, BeiDou) may be added in the future as the service matures.

Performance: Accuracy 0.1 m RMS / 0.2 m 2DRMS.
Enablement: Galileo HAS is automatically received when Galileo is enabled on a
PRO-licensed multi-frequency unit. Ensure the Galileo constellation is active.
The NAV sensor GNSS firmware must be version 6.1Aa03 or later.
Availability: R6 NAV PRO variants (multi-frequency L1/L2/L5 required).

RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) uses corrections from a local base station or network service (e.g., NTRIP) to achieve centimetre-level positioning accuracy. RTK corrections can be provided in several formats: ROX, RTCM v3.1, CMR, and CMR+. The system can operate as a “base” (stationary reference) or a “rover” (moving object).
RTK typically requires a subscription to a correction service provider. The corrections are fed into the NAV sensor via an external input port.

Performance: Accuracy 8 mm + 1 ppm RMS / 15 mm + 2 ppm 2DRMS.
License: Requires an PRO RTK or Compass NAV sensor.
